Does Life Begin at Conception?

An embryo is the first stage of human development. It follows conception. If an embryo is allowed to develop, in eight weeks it becomes a fetus. By the fifth week of development, the embryo will display a heartbeat in ultrasounds. But something like half of the embryos have not been surviving to the eighth week and beyond. These fertilized eggs fail to divide or fail to implant into the uterus. For those who believe that life begins at conception this means that nature is a most prolific abortionist.
